Hey folks,
So today was the first stop on my upcoming book tour for The Martial Arts / Kettlebell Connection, and it was a BLAST! Five Star Martial Arts was the spot for the kick off and I couldn't have asked for a better crowd. I had experienced jiu jitsu players, kickboxers, even a few guys who know how to swing a stick, AND I had some folks who'd never thrown a punch or shot a takedown in their life! It was a great cross section of society.
We covered some kettlebell fundamentals like the wall squat, dead lift, Turkish get up and even polished the clean for a few folks within reach of that challenging ballistic. Then it was time to tie it all together. How do these exercises improve martial arts performance? What elements of wall squat / dead lift posture are necessary for good clinch work or passing the guard? How will good elbow position from the clean improve my stick work? How does ground mobility and striking from the ground improve via the Turkish? It all came together nicely. I am happy to say even those with no martial arts experience gained an understanding of the concepts and practical applications. And that's not to mention the health and fitness gains that are (thankfully) unavoidable!
